Exa's range of activity includes LVDT (Linear Variable Displacement Transformer) limit and proximity switches, position transmitters and positioners – equipment suitable for the control of mechanical processes and the operation of valves.

In spite of being the "renewables" the new frontier natural gas is still the most effective and least polluting means to generate energy at a large scale, and GTs have been vastly implemented in combined cycle power plants as parts of sustainable and better efficiency projects.
In over thirdy years as sub-suppliers of Ansaldo Energia Spa we have gained a specific know-how on GTs models 64,84 and 94, developed after the agreement with Siemens.
Although these models are being replaced by newer and more efficient models we can still provide spare parts according to WSLV specifications and hard-to-find items such as Spark Plug Connectors (WSLV3950522) or the mechanical components of the turning gear as per WSLV3630018 such as the Rollstar hydromotors.

Sousse D & C Power Stations erected by Ansaldo Energia in Tunisia are strategically located on the Mediterranean and implement the sea water for different purposes. The sea water however needs to be filtered to remove salt and other impurities through processes based on such principle as Reverse Osmosis (RO).
This is a water purification process that uses a partially permeable membrane to separate ions, boron and other unwanted molecole or larger particles.
We are a current supplier of this plant for membranes Type SWC5 MAX SERIES by Hydronautics.
Sea water treatment is crucial for desalinization plants such as Medina Yambu Plant (Saudi Arabia) belonging to SWCC, one of our customers since the very first years of activity.
Filtration is more and more crucial as a way of reducing the impact of industrial processes on the planet ecosystem, whether as water waste or exhaust gas emission, and industry has been working on sophisiticated technologies and new materials to achieve the objective of a better sustainability.
In filtration the predomintant removal mechanism is straining, which is achieved through pores with different sizes from 80 to 5 micron through materials such as paper, microfiber, SS wire messh and glass fiber, determining the specific filtering coefficient.
We have developed close relationships with market leaders in filtering solutions such as Internormen Hydac, Franke Filters, MP filters (among others) for the supply of complete filters or the filtering cartridges for fluids ranging from air, oil, fuel oil, diesel, water, etc.
One very specific application is oil mist separation, aimed to purify oil from mist thus optimizing its efficiency in the burning process.
For the twin power stations of Sparanise and Rizziconi - Axpo (Italy) we have supplied a set of Mass Flow Meter CORIOLIS MASTER by ABB for the measurement of the gas line to the burner (1“ pipe size) with a design flow rate of 250 Sm3, including volumetric as well as mass flow and totalizer indication. The very low flow of the application combined with the size of pipeline was not complying with the standard instrument application; EXA has engineering a solution through a flanged adapting kit from 1“ to ½“ which was supplied assembled to the equipment.
At Thisvi - Greece - the partially underground 2-mt-large diesel tank required renovation but the original manufacturer of the equipped tank couldn’t be of help having closed.
Based on the original drawings we have supplied one level indicator by the first class Italian manufacturer Officine Orobiche and one level switch by Colima, being responsible for the compatibility and full interchangeability of the supply.
For Ain-Djasser Power Station (property Sonelgaz - Algerie) we were involved in 2018 in the supply of a package (approx. 500 k euro) of spare parts including a large set of electronic modules for the PLCs (programmable logic centroller ) installed in the plant belonging to the below lines:

The above product had been already discontinued and were no longer available through the manufacturers distrubution channels; nevertheless we were able to procure the items and could completely carry out the supply.
INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS
In 2021 Malpensa Airport (run by Sea Energia recently merged into A2A) decided to install two combined cycle cogeneration units producing apprx 30 MW each of electric and thermic energy covering the needs of the airport processes.
For the Steam turbine No.4 it was required an equipment measuring the shaft position, application which was traditionally achieved by means of a LVDT, namely Schavitz Model HR3000 with a measuring range of +/- 76,2 mm resulting in an mV output signal.
We suggested instead an innovative solution with the state-of the art inductive position transmitter TWK IW253/115-0,25-A19 equipped with output 4-20 mA suitable for digital technology.
